Who writes La Guía Financiera, how the guides are researched and revised, how the site is funded and where its limits are.

Who writes this site

La Guía Financiera is written and maintained by Sebastián Montes, a senior full-stack software engineer who builds the calculators and writes the guides himself.

The site started as a set of tools for answering everyday money questions with numbers instead of rules of thumb: how much interest you really pay, how long a debt takes to disappear, how far a salary stretches. The calculators and the explanations are built together, which is why every guide points to a working tool.

What I am not

I am not a licensed financial advisor, accountant or lawyer, and nothing published here is personalised advice. The content is educational: it explains how a product, a rate or a rule works so you can ask better questions.

Before signing a loan, a mortgage or an investment, confirm the numbers with the institution and, when the decision is significant, with a professional who can look at your full situation.

How the guides are written and revised

Every guide is written by a person and carries its first publication date and its last meaningful revision, checked against the primary source before publishing.

Corrections: if something is outdated, wrong or unclear, write to us through the contact page. Substantive fixes update the “updated” date on the page; the article is never silently rewritten.

We do not publish unreviewed generated articles, filler pages or translations produced only to multiply URLs. A guide exists when it answers a question with a method, a number or a tool you can use.

How the site is funded

La Guía Financiera is funded by display advertising served by third parties (Google AdSense). The ads are not chosen by us and do not influence what the guides say.

No advertiser can buy a place in a guide, in a ranking or in a calculator result. If we ever add affiliate links, the link will be labelled inside the article and it will not change the recommendation.

Sources and data

Guides that quote rates, limits or legal figures link to the official source and state the cut-off date. When a number has no visible source yet, treat it as an illustrative example, not as the current legal or market value.

The calculators show their formulas on the page. If you cannot reproduce a result with the formula shown, that is a bug: report it and we will fix it.
